No complicity, no silence: let’s raise the voice against gender violence We,
Declare that it’s an obligation of society to together eradicate the violence, in which ever way it appears to us. With ‘we’, we refer to businessmen, sportsmen, artists, politics, press reporters, friends, fellows, mothers, fathers, sons & daughters and all those that try to dedicate a part of their responsibilities and assure not only the happiness, but the physical and emotional freedom too, for those who are near us. We condemn the violence; and when we do so, we refer to the violence of the hit eye, the injured lip and the crying of the child…
When we condemn the violence, we refer to the one of the anguish caused by a coward, to the one of the fear, to the one coming from the intentions that this coward has to make the one that is going with him/her believe that he/she is not worth it, that it’s no-one or nothing… When we condemn the violence, we refer to the one of the child afraid by the shadow of whom comes to him/her with a punch; to the one of the children that are devoured by the flies because the governments of their parents decided that there was no place for them…
When we condemn the violence, we refer to the classmate of our children that has its breakfast alone at the breaks at school, and for whom, in certain moments it becomes impossible to hide well enough… and that afterwards cries and the next day doesn’t want to go back to school…
When we condemn the violence, we refer to the one coming from the words considered as sacred but used to impose the way of thinking of the one that uses them; to the one that forgets that faith is an individual and free to choose option; to the one of the sword next to the cross, the moon or the raising sun… dirty with blood; we refer to the one of hatred, the reconquest, the crusade and the scream…
When we say "we condemn the violence" we do it in plural, joining all those persons that already do so. And we extend our hand to all those persons that want to do so. And we condemn the violence not by showing the other cheek, but by looking face to face to the one that causes pain and raising our voice against. We condemn it by asking please, that the administrative justice could represent some day the real justice, the one that defends the assaulted of the aggressor, and that does it when it’s necessary and with speed, and not when, of a sudden, it’s too late…
This is why we should not accept any type of complicity with the violence, neither any silence… this is why we ask you, that we, all, raise our voices against it. This is why that we thank all of those that do cooperate and to all that will cooperate, the small and the big efforts, the small and the big gestures… because each act against the punch and for the caress is a step forward to achieve a new smile.
